Synapse didn't start in a boardroom. It started in a conversation between the two of us. For as long as we can remember, we've watched people around us: smart and hardworking people alike, struggle through A Levels without the right support.Â

We'd both experienced what good guidance felt like. We also knew how rare it was.

So we asked ourselves: why not us? We'd been through the same syllabus, sat the same papers, survived the same stress. If we could help even one student skip the detours we took, that was worth something.

That's how Synapse started. No grand plan, no big pitch. Just two friends who cared enough and decided to do something about it.

When I was taking my O-levels, I struggled with my Mathematics - I could not grasp the concepts and was doing practices blindly without any tangible results.

While I enrolled at a Math tuition centre that was referred to me by a friend, the tutor was patient, explained concepts clearly and had a wealth of resources such as practice questions that drilled my areas of weakness.
​
I was eventually able to score A1s for both my internal exams and GCE O-levels., and this experience truly inspired me to start teaching Biology, so that I could do the very same for my students as well. It is my belief that with the proper guidance and resources, anyone can get that A for Biology!

Throughout my academic journey, I've struggled with terrible procrastination issues. I flunked my first sitting of A-levels, causing me to retake privately during National Service. I regretted not working hard enough and not achieving my full potential, with only myself to blame.

That's why I strive to help my students achieve results fueled by their hard work, and ultimately have no regrets like I did. I seek to do so by instilling the importance of understanding in my students, for that foundation is necessary in ensuring long-lasting learning rather than simple memorisation.
